ASCE India Section (North Region) conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hotel Shivalikview Hotel Chandigarh. During the meeting, Dr. Har Amrit Singh Sandhu (President ASCE IS NR & Faculty PEC Chandigarh) shared the importance of technical societies in educational institutes. He emphasized increasing the interactions among all the stakeholders to channel the energy of young engineers for sustainable development and suggested training on the upcoming fields, increased diversity in the workforce, digitalization and simplification, innovation, and a reduced environmental footprint.

Sh. Rajan Datt (Commissioner, Customs, Ministry of Finance, GoI) graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the event. He discussed the importance of Civil Engineering in making India a developed country and motivated the participants to think of out-of-the-box solutions for upcoming challenges. He suggested making this technical society more efficient, robust, and value-creating.

Dr. Sanjeev Naval (Secretary ASCE IS NR & Faculty DAVIET Jalandhar) discussed various challenges in real-life projects and opined that the development should be in sync with the SDGs of the United Nations (UN). He also shared the number of activities the ASCE IS NR conducted in previous years. In the concluding session,

Dr. Ankit Bansal (Treasurer ASCE IS NR & SDO PAU Jalandhar) gave a vote of thanks and assured that the society would be proactive in conducting more interactive programs and collaborations for solutions in these challenging times. He also lauded the efforts of the student coordinators (Mr. Annan Bansal, Mr. Arjun Sharma, Mr. Pankaj Bhasin, Ms. Janhavi Deshmukh, and others) for organizing the event of such magnitude. The faculty and students of institutes like NIT Hamirpur, NIT Kurukshetra, PEC Chandigarh, Shiv Nadar Univerity Gurgaon, MMU Ambala, UPES Dehradun, and GNE Ludhiana attended this meeting.
